replacing spotify
i haven't used spotify in over a week
wild. i spent over 70.000 minutes listening to spotify in all of 2025 according to their wrapped. now, i haven't opened their app in a week.
what did i do? i used my own music player. or, to be more precise, i used a lot of versions of my music player. i'm writing this as i'm coding the dunce music player automatic updater, after making over 100 versions (tags in git, not commits) of the app.
dunce music player is very far from being perfect. in fact, it's far from being usable for most people. but, i am really happy with the progress i've made so far. the dunce music player supports playback from local files, intuitive queues and has copied some ui from dunce lyrics.
i still have no clue when i'll be releasing it, but i know it's most likely gonna be this year. things change fast when you code fast.
hopefully, i'll be able to spare others from the pain that is spotify.
